本标准给出了石油和天然气工业海上生产平台新建管道系统设计和安装的最低要求和指南。管道系统的最高压力高达69 000 kPa（G），在温度范围内对材料的要求满足ASME B31.3 的要求。
注： 对于超出本标准压力和温度范围的应用，可以采用本标准，但对材料特性应给予特别考虑。
附录A是解决管道设计问题的实例。
