本标准适用于由5,5-二甲基海因经溴化而制得的二溴海因，主要用于工业循环水、泳池、景观喷泉、医院污水、医疗器具、水产养殖、食品加工、宾馆家庭卫生洁具的消毒杀菌灭藻，还可用于保鲜库、气调库杀菌保鲜、口岸检验检疫处理消毒杀菌及疫区的防疫消毒。在有机合成化学工业、制药业、橡胶工业上用作溴化剂。
