本标准规定了滑动轴承（符合GB/T 7308）的选择装配。
轴承的直径间隙由轴承座孔直径、轴颈直径及两片轴瓦的厚度决定。这几部分的公差“叠加”一般将达到50 μm~60 μm。根据现代发动机的发展和实践，为了改进发动机性能，需要缩小由公差“叠加”形成的间隙范围。本标准提出了为获得这种小间隙范围而进行选择装配的各种方案和建议。
