本标准规定了油浴润滑滚动轴承额定热转速的定义，确定了该参数的计算原则。从摩擦学的观点看，按本标准确定的参数不仅适用于给定系列和尺寸标准结构的轴承，而且也适用于其他相关标准结构的轴承。
对于大多数标准部件而言，最高转速由许用温度确定。整个部件的热量由轴承产生。
由于运动学效应，本标准规定的额定热转速不适用于推力球轴承。
