GB/T 24811的本部分规定了两种使用于按GB/T 6974.1定义的起重机械的钢丝绳选择方法，一种是根据钢丝绳选用系数C，另一种是根据利用（安全）系数ZP。
本部分根据起重机的设计、应用和维护要求规定了钢丝绳许用强度和性能等级的最低要求。
本部分规定了与所选钢丝绳相关的卷筒和滑轮直径的最低要求。
