本标准规定了1 000 kV支柱绝缘子的一般使用条件、技术要求、检验规则、包装、标志和运输。本标准适用于1 000 kV母线、隔离开关、电抗器、串补平台等电力设备上使用的瓷支柱绝缘子、工厂复合化支柱绝缘子及实芯复合支柱绝缘子（以下简称“绝缘子”）。直流系统用支柱绝缘子也可参考使用。
本标准不包括为特定运行条件下选取支柱绝缘子所涉及的一些要求。
