GB/T 25123的本部分适用于驱动轨道机车车辆和公路车辆的由电子变流器供电的交流电动机。
本部分为通过试验确定电动机的性能并评定该电动机对某一规定工作制的适应性以及与其他电动机进行比较提供依据。
可按照GB/T 25117.1、GB/T 25117.3选择进一步的试验，为避免重复，一些型式检验项目和研究性试验项目可在联合试验台上进行。
按照5.1的要求，电动机设计者和对应的变流器设计者之间应相互协作。
