本标准规定了旅居挂车和轻型挂车与牵引车之间采用连接球牵引时机械连接装置的尺寸。连接球周围的净空间应能满足与牵引车的连接和脱开，以及机械装置连接和脱开时的操作安全。
本标准适用于M类、N类汽车与旅居挂车及轻型挂车（O1、O2类）连接的连接球，不适用于专用汽车与专用挂车的连接。
