GB/T 26168的本部分规定了分级体系，作为选择和检索应用于核反应设施、反应堆燃料处理设施、辐照设施、离子加速器和X射线设备等辐射环境中所使用绝缘材料的指导。
分级体系为确定曝露于电离辐射环境下各种设备中所使用的三大类聚合物材料（硬质塑料、软质塑料和弹性体）的使用提供了一套参数。
