本标准规定了石墨坩埚（以下简称“坩埚”）的定义、分类、规格型号、技术要求、试验方法、检验规则、包装、标志、运输、储运和质量证书等。
本标准适用于有色金属及其合金进行熔解、精炼和保温用的坩埚（具体适用范围及使用寿命参见附录A）。人造石墨坩埚、高纯石墨坩埚、炭素制品加工的坩埚其型号可参照本标准。
