GB/T 26645的本部分规定了采用液体重力沉降法分析微粒材料粒度分布的方法，典型的粒径测量范围为0.5μm～100μm。
本部分适用于浆料或可在液体中分散的微粒材料的粒度分布的测量。通常情况下分散相和连续相之间的密度差是正的，但也可用于测量比分散相密度低的乳状液滴的粒度分布。颗粒在悬浮液中不能发生物理或化学的变化。对危险材料需要采用基本防护措施，尤其是使用低沸点的挥发性液体作为连续相时，分析者要先做防爆试验。
