本标准确立了带屏幕显示的模拟和数字式脉冲回波超声无损检测仪各部件性能特性的检测方法。其目的是建立一种统一的评定方法，为不同实验室和不同时间获取的检测数据的比较及测量结果的分析处理提供依据。
本标准未规定验收准则，该验收准则宜由使用方规定。
超声检测仪的通用部件及其性能特性，包括测量这些性能特性的方法都列于1.2～1.6中。
