本标准规定了化学品危险性分类试验中12 m跌落试验所需试验方法的术语和定义、设备和材料、试验步骤、试验报告及结果实例。
本标准适用于确定一个试验单元（物品、包装物品或除均质液体外的包装物质）能否经得住自由下落的撞击而不发生明显的燃烧或爆炸危险。
本标准不适用于评估包件是否经得住撞击的试验。
