本标准规定了阿贝尔-宾斯基（Abel-Pensky）闭口杯测定石油产品以及其他液体闪点的方法。
本标准适用于闪点在5 ℃～65 ℃范围内的石油产品以及其他液体闪点的测定。温度低于5 ℃时，本方法可以适用，但所得结果的精密度必然明显低于9.3中规定的数值。
本标准不适用于多相物质和黏性溶液闪点的测定，如清漆、涂料或胶合剂等。
