GB/T 28029的本部分规定了以太网列车骨干网(ETB)要求，以满足基于以太网技术的开式列车通信系统。
不论采用何种编组网技术(见GB/T 28029.1-2020)，本部分实现本地编组子网之间的互操作性。所有编组网定义宜考虑本部分以保持互操作性。
当供需双方协商一致时，本部分可适用于闭式列车和多单元列车。
