GB/T 2878的本部分规定了米制可调节和不可调节轻型螺柱端（L系列）及O形圈的尺寸、性能要求和试验程序。
符合本部分的不可调节螺柱端适用的最高工作压力为40 MPa，可调节螺柱端适用的最高工作压力为31.5 MPa。许用工作压力宜根据螺柱端尺寸、材料、结构、工作条件和应用场合等条件来确定。
仅符合本部分尺寸的产品不能保证能达到规定性能。制造商宜按照本部分所包含的规范进行试验，以确保元件符合规定性能。
