本标准规定了静水力学天平的分类和基本参数、要求、试验方法、检验规则、标志及包装、运输、贮存。
本标准适用于根据阿基米德定律原理，测出被测物在空气中的质量与浸在水中的质量之差，得出被测物的体积从而计算出被测物的密度(密度1 g/cm3)的静水力学天平（以下简称天平）。
