本标准适用于安装在经修正的1974年《国际海上人命安全公约（SOLAS）》第Ⅴ章第5条所推荐的船舶上，用于测量和指示其在海上航行时的风向和风速的仪器设备。
本标准不适用于气象学或科学测量及观察目的的风向标和风速仪。
