本标准规定了印刷文献的原件制作指导，以便更易被缩微复制或影像扫描复制。
<br/ 虽然本标准更多是针对具体的拉丁字母，但是其一般原则也适用于使用其他字母或意符的文献制作。
本标准不适用于GB/T 14689和GB/T 10609.4中给出的技术制图的条件。同样也不适用于特殊的缩微影像技术或相关的扫描使用（银行支票或条码扫描）。
