本标准规定了鉴别人造革、合成革（以下统称人工革）材质是否为聚氯乙烯（PVC）或聚氨酯（PU）的红外光谱方法及验证方法，并给出了分析步骤及谱图解析的指南。
本标准适用于以织物为基材，以PVC、PU为涂层主要材料的人工革，不包含以动物皮革、再生革为基材的覆膜皮革。含有动物皮革、再生革的复合材料的涂层材质鉴别可参照使用。
