本标准规定了摩擦材料热分解温度测定的术语和定义、试验设备、试样制备、设备校准、试验步骤、结果表述和试验报告。
本标准适用于测定干式摩擦材料的分解温度和分解速率，也适用于测定摩擦材料中所含挥发物、添加剂和/或填料的含量，摩擦材料用原材料可参照使用。
本标准适用于动态模式（在程序条件下质量随温度或时间变化）或等温模式（在恒定温度下质量随时间变化）下进行热重测量。
