本标准规定了测定色漆和清漆用漆基及漆基溶液中游离羟基的滴定方法。此羟基可以多元醇、偏酯、聚酯端基或羟基脂肪酸的形式存在。
本标准不适用于含羟基和环氧基两种基团的树脂，因为后者也包含在结果中。本标准也不适用于硝基纤维素或酚醛树脂。
注： 若是漆基溶液只需测定漆基的羟值，则漆基溶液的其他组分可能含有的羟基必须考虑进去。
