本标准规定了使用相敏涡流测厚仪无损测量金属和非金属基体上非磁性金属覆盖层厚度的方法，如：a)〓钢铁基体上镀锌、镉、铜、锡或铬；b)〓复合材料基体上镀铜或银。与GB/T 4957幅敏涡流法相比，相敏涡流法对较小表面和较大曲率表面的镀层无厚度测量误差，同时，受基体的磁性影响更小，但相敏涡流法受覆盖层材料电性能的影响更大。测量金属基体上的金属覆盖层，制品的一种材料（如基体材料）电导率和渗透率（σ、μ）至少应该是另一种材料（如覆盖层材料）电导率和渗透率的1.5倍。非铁磁材料的相对渗透率为1。
