本标准规定了采用红外光谱法和差示扫描量热法，对于主要原料为聚丙烯（PP-R、PP-B或PP-H）的管材、管件的材质鉴别方法，并给出了试样制备和谱图解析的指南。
本标准适用于由单一聚丙烯树脂（PP-R、PP-B或PP-H）制成的管材、管件的材质鉴别，聚丙烯树脂也可参照使用。
本标准不适用于共混树脂制成的管材、管件的材质鉴别，也不适用于β-PP材料。
