GB/T 32580的本部分适用于室内或室外固定安装，运行频率50 Hz，且标称电压为25 kV、2×25 kV和50 kV电气化铁路用单相交流断路器。
本部分适用的双极断路器的连接方式限定于：一极连接线路上的接触线，另一极连接正馈线，正馈线沿同一轨道架设，并通过按一定距离连接自耦变压器用以提高线路电压。整个回路的中性点直接接地。
本部分也适用于断路器的操动机构及其辅助设备。
仅依靠人力操动合闸机构的断路器不在本部分范围内。
