GB/T 32588的本部分规定了系统性安全要求，适用于在专用线路运营的采用无人驾驶或无人干预的自牵引列车的各类城市轨道交通系统。
配备司乘人员时，相应工作人员根据系统的自动化程度负责部分或全部列车运营功能（见表1阴影部分和3.1关于自动化等级的定义）。
本部分提出了不设司乘人员时必要的安全要求（见表1）。
本部分要求仅适用于第5章定义的系统、3.1.4定义的无人驾驶（DTO）模式和3.1.20定义的无人干预（UTO）模式（见表1阴影部分）。
