本标准规定了测定连续循环条件对制品力学性能和含湿量影响的设备和步骤，循环条件为从-20 ℃干燥条件到20 ℃浸水条件。该方法适用于绝热制品。
它的目的是模拟冻融对经常暴露在有水和低温的环境中的绝热制品的影响，例如倒置屋面和处于地下且未受保护的绝热制品。
该方法并不适用于所有的绝热制品。如果相关，产品标准中应说明本标准适用于哪些制品。
