本标准规定了酚醛树脂中六次甲基四胺含量的三种测定方法。这三种方法是等效的。第3章规定的凯氏定氮法不适用于含其他氮化合物的酚醛树脂。第4章和第5章规定的高氯酸法和盐酸法不适用于含有其他酸性或碱性物质的酚醛树脂。如果树脂中含有可被高氯酸氧化的添加剂，则只能使用第5章规定的盐酸法。
