本标准规定了一种涡轮分子泵急停扭矩（破坏扭矩）的测试方法。此扭矩由轴流叶片或螺旋通道产生的气体冲力产生。导致分子泵破坏的主要破坏力是以转子轴线为中心的扭矩。其他可能发生的较小力和扭矩不在本标准范围内。
有两种破坏形式：碎泵急速跌落和转子刮蹭跌落，本标准均适用。涡轮分子泵和拖动分子泵可以使用相同的测试方法。
