GB/T 33983的本部分规定了直接甲醇燃料电池系统在正常操作、发生可预见性错误操作和运输等情况下的安全要求和防护措施、型式试验、例行试验，以及标识、标签和包装。
本部分适用于额定功率不大于1 000 W的以甲醇或甲醇水溶液为燃料的直接甲醇燃料电池系统，对于上述系统，当额定功率小于或等于240 W时属微型燃料电池系统范畴；当额定功率大于240 W、小于或等于1 000 W时属移动式直接甲醇燃料电池系统范畴，具体分类详见表1。
