本标准规定了电力系统继电保护装置、安全自动装置、继电保护相关设备和关键二次回路配置的基本技术原则，提出了继电保护对一次系统结构和一次设备配置选择的一般要求。
本标准适用于220 kV~750 kV交流电网，含交流输电网、发电厂涉网部分以及电铁牵引站和新能源接入系统的继电保护配置。
注： 继电保护相关设备是指：在变电站中与继电保护装置共同完成继电保护功能的纵联保护通道接口装置、过程层网络、合并单元、传统互感器模/数转换部分、智能终端、操作箱、电压切换箱等设备。
