本标准规定了单线标称直径（包括镀层）范围1.25 mm~5.50 mm的镀锌钢线的材料、表面质量、直径和直径偏差、长度和长度偏差、接头、取样、试验地点、机械性能试验、镀锌层试验、合格证等。镀锌钢线分为5个强度等级，分别用1级、2级、3级、4级和5级表示。镀锌层分为2个级别，分别为A级和B级。
本标准适用于架空绞线结构用和（或）加强用镀锌钢线。
