本标准规定了瓜类作物上5种常见种传病毒--黄瓜绿斑驳花叶病毒(Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus,CGMMV)、黄瓜花叶病毒(Cucumber mosaic virus,CMV)、甜瓜坏死斑病毒(Melon necrotic spot virus,MNSV)、南瓜花叶病毒(Squash mosaic virus,SqMV)和小西葫芦黄花叶病毒(Zucchini yellow mosaic virus,ZYMV)的检测方法，规定了马铃薯Y病毒科(Potyviridae)、烟草花叶病毒属(Tobamovirus)和南方菜豆花叶病毒属(Sobemovirus)的分子鉴定方法。
本标准适用于西瓜(Citrullus vulgaris)、甜瓜(Cucumis melo)、黄瓜(Cucumis sativus)、南瓜(Cucurbita moschata)、瓠瓜(Lagenaria siceraria)、西葫芦(Cucurbita pepo)、笋瓜(Cucurbita maxima)、苦瓜(Momordica charantia)和丝瓜(Luffa cylindrica)等瓜类作物种子的检疫鉴定。
