本标准规定了传输速率为千兆比（1 G）和万兆比（10 G）的基于以太网方式的无源光网络［EPON1)］系统的互通性测试方法，包括EPON基本功能互通性、业务承载相关功能互通性、操作管理和维护功能互通性的测试方法。
1)〓在本标准中，1G/1GEPON称为1GEPON；10G/1GEPON和10G/10GEPON统称为10GEPON，1GEPON和10GEPON统称为EPON。
本标准适用于FTTH/FTTO场景下的EPON设备。FTTB场景下的EPON设备也可参考使用。
