本标准规定了船舶及海洋工程用低温韧性钢的牌号表示方法、订货内容、尺寸、外形、重量、技术要求、试验方法、检验规则、包装、标志及质量证明书。
本标准适用于液化气体运输船、极地船及低温海洋工程用碳锰低温钢和镍系低温钢，适用于厚度不大于60 mm的钢板，厚度或直径不大于50 mm的型钢(以下简称钢材)。
