GB/T 38273的本部分规定了热塑性聚酯/酯和聚醚/酯弹性体的命名系统，该命名系统可作为确定产品规格的基础。
不同种类热塑性聚酯/酯和聚醚/酯弹性体用以下性能的不同等级来区分：
a) 硬度；
b) 熔融温度；
c) 拉伸/弯曲弹性模量。
关于应用、加工方法、重要特性、添加剂、色度、填充与增强材料的信息也和命名或分类有关。
<br/ 本部分适用于所有热塑性聚酯/酯和聚醚/酯弹性体。适用于以粉状、颗粒状或片状等形态直接使用的和由着色剂、添加剂、填料等改性或者未改性的材料。
本部分不意味着命名相同的材料必定具有相同的性能。本部分不提供用于说明特定用途和/或特定加工方法的材料所需的工程数据、性能数据和加工条件的数据。需要时，有必要依据本标准第2部分中规定的验证方法确定这些附加性能。
为了说明某种热塑性塑料的特殊用途或保证加工的重现性，可在字符组5中给出附加要求(见4.1)
