本标准说明了氧含量(质量分数)在0.05%～3%的金属粉末中可被氢还原氧的测定方法。
本方法适用于非合金化、部分合金化和完全合金化的金属粉末，也适用于碳化物和粘结金属的混合物。它不适用于含有润滑剂或者有机粘结剂的粉末。
通过使用专用催化装置，本方法可以扩大到用于测量含碳的粉末。
ISO 4491应与ISO 760和ISO 4491-1一同阅读。
