本标准规定了测定纸和纸板耐折度的肖伯尔法和MIT法，提出了使用仪器时应遵守的条件，以及使用每种仪器时应注意的事项。
肖伯尔法适用于厚度小于0.25 mm，抗张强度大于1.33 kN/m的纸，以及厚度为0.25 mm～1.4 mm 的纸板。MIT法具有可调节间距的夹头，适用于厚度不大于1.25 mm的纸和纸板。
