本标准规定了重量法测定丙酮在其沸点附近从酚醛模塑料粉末中抽提的可溶物的含量。
本标准仅适用于以线型酚醛树脂为基材的模塑料，而不适用于以甲阶酚醛树脂为基材的模塑料，因为后一类树脂不能完全溶于丙酮。
本标准中，丙酮可溶物的数量为表观树脂含量，虽然抽提物主要是由酚醛树脂和六次甲基四胺组成，但通常还有其他丙酮可溶物组分（如润滑剂、着色剂或来自填料中的天然树脂），都统称树脂。
