本标准规定了连续相为液相的过滤与分离过程专业基础及相关设备的构造、性能通用术语。
本标准适用于液固分离原理与过程，物料性质，预处理技术（包括增浓、澄清、沉降、气浮、凝聚与絮凝、助滤技术等），过滤介质，后处理技术（包括洗涤，脱液等），膜过程；以及离心机，分离机，离心萃取设备，过滤机，压榨过滤设备，过滤器，膜过滤，气浮设备，旋流器等机械、设备与零部件及有关操作过程控制、机械结构等的设计、生产；也适用于过滤与分离过程与设备的科研、教学等领域。
本标准不包括实验室用离心机及气体过滤器。
