本部分适用于额定电压为12 V的，供各种汽车、拖拉机、重型卡车及其他内燃机的起动、点火和照明用排气式（富液式）铅酸蓄电池和阀控式（有气体复合功能）铅酸蓄电池（以下简称蓄电池）。
本部分不适用于作为其他目的的蓄电池，例如：铁路内燃机起动用蓄电池。
