GB/T 5211的本部分规定了颜料和体质颜料样品分散在水中进行筛余物测定的通用试验方法。
GB/T 5211的第14部分规定了用机械冲洗法测定颜料和体质颜料筛余物的通用试验方法。对于大多数颜料和体质颜料，用这两种方法会得到不同的结果，因此，应在产品标准中明确指出选用哪一种方法，并在试验报告中注明。
注： 当本通用方法不适用于某特定产品时，应规定一个专用方法来测定筛余物。
