本标准规定了适用于机械动力传动和输送用双节距精密滚子链条及配用链轮的技术要求，内容包括尺寸、公差、长度测量、预拉和最小抗拉强度。
双节距链条是由GB/T 1243传动用短节距精密滚子链派生出来的，节距是其两倍，其余互换性尺寸相同。
本标准规定的链条应用于传递的功率和速度比派生出它的基本链条相对要低一些的场合。
本标准规定的链轮齿数应用范围为5～75齿（包括中间值，从5 1/2到74 1/2）。
优选齿数为：7、9、10、11、13、19、27、38和57。
