本标准规定了预应力混凝土管的分类、要求、试验方法、检验规则、标志、运输、保管、使用规定和出厂证明书等内容。
本标准适用于制造公称内径为400 mm～3 000 mm、管线运行工作压力或静水头不大于1.2 MPa、管顶覆土深度不超过10 m的承插式预应力混凝土管，制造超出本标准给定范围的预应力混凝土管时可参照本标准执行。
依据本标准制造的管子可用于城市给水系统、排水系统、工业和水利输水管线、农田灌溉、工厂管网及深覆土涵管等。
