GB 6067的本部分规定了起重机械的设计、制造、安装、改造、维修、使用、报废、检查等方面的基本安全要求。
本部分适用于桥式和门式起重机、流动式起重机、塔式起重机、臂架起重机、缆索起重机及轻小型起重设备的通用要求。对特定型式起重机械的特殊要求在GB 6067的其他部分中给出。
本部分不适用于浮式起重机、甲板起重机及载人等起重设备。如不涉及基本安全的特殊问题，本部分也可供其他起重机械参考。
