本标准规定了采用电位滴定法测定原油中盐含量的方法。
本标准适用于测定盐含量（质量分数）范围为0.000 5％～0.15％的原油，以及渣油和燃料油等重质石油产品。

本标准亦适用于判断用过的汽轮机油和船用燃料油被海水污染的情况。
