本标准规定了隐极同步发电机（或调相机）的总要求、空冷、氢冷或液冷发电机（或调相机）的一般要求、燃气轮发电机和核电用隐极同步发电机的特殊要求，及氢气作为冷却介质的同步发电机（或调相机）注意的事项：包括发电机（或调相机）运行所需的辅助设备、厂房内氢气可能积聚的区域。
本标准适用于容量大于10 MVA三相2极或4极隐极同步发电机以及三相隐极同步调相机。
