GB/T 7759的本部分规定了在常温和高温条件下测定硫化橡胶或热塑性橡胶压缩永久变形性能的试验方法。
本方法用于测量硬度在10 IRHD~95 IRHD范围内的橡胶在规定的温度和压缩率（通常为25%）条件下，经持续压缩后保持其弹性的能力。当橡胶硬度大于80 IRHD时，应选用较低的压缩率：80 IRHD~89 IRHD压缩率为15%，90 IRHD~95 IRHD压缩率为10%。
