本标准规定了电弧焊机的通用技术要求、检验方法及验收规则。
本标准适用于为工业和专业用途而设计的由不超过GB/T 156标准中表1规定的电压供电或由机械设备驱动的电弧焊机（以下简称焊机）。
本标准不适用于为非专业人员使用的限制负载的手工电弧焊电源。
各类焊机如有特殊要求时，可在本标准的基础上加以补充。
