本部分适用于通信光缆和其他信息传输设备中使用的B1.2类单模光纤。其中B1.2a、B1.2b、B1.2c、B1.2d更适用于海底通信光缆，B1.2e适用于陆地长途干线光缆。
注：本部分光纤尺寸参数和传输特性参考了ITU-T G.654（2016)中G.654类光纤特性的规定,光纤的机械、环境性能参考了IEC 60793-2-50:2015中B1.2类光纤规定。
